Obituary for Nancy Elizabeth Campbell (Stephens)

Memorial Service for Nancy Elizabeth Stephens Campbell, 100, will be at Chulafinnee Methodist Church on Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Burial will be in the Chulafinnee Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church before the service between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Campbell passed away on Saturday, January 24 at her home in Heflin.

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Ayers, son-in-law Bill Ayers, and daughters-in-law Virginia Campbell and Brenda Campbell. She is also survived by grandchildren: Nancy Anderson, Hugh Campbell, III, Jennifer Dawson, Stephen Campbell, Douglas Campbell, Marc Ayers, Melinda King, Ben Ayers, Emily Altman, Amanda Holmes, twenty-three great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Campbell is preceded in death by her husband Hugh Campbell, Sr., her sons Hugh Campbell, Jr., her daughter Ann Campbell Meadors, her son-in-law Malcolm Edward Meadors,her parents Charles W. Stephens and Luna Mobley Stephens, eight brothers and sisters, and seven brothers and sisters in law.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Borden Springs, Alabama, on September 16, 1914.she was graduated from Selma High School in Selma, Alabama, and taught adult education classes in the Chulafinnee area prior to her marriage to Hugh Campbell. She was a loving, devoted, and role model wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs Campbell was a substitute teacher, an employees of Heflin Manufacturing, Inc. and a pre-school teacher. She was a member of Chulafinnee Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

The Campbell family would like to express appreciation to Autumn Cove Retirement Community for the delightful years that she spent there in assisted living; to Life Choice Hospice for their exceptional care for her; and to her care givers who gave quality to her final days.

The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Chulafinnee Methodist Church.
