Obituary for Thomas Aaron Ventress III

Birmingham - Thomas Aaron “Tom” Ventress III died Friday, September 16th, 2022, in Birmingham at the age of 81. Tom was born in Anniston, Alabama, on July 3rd, 1941. He grew up in Heflin and attended Auburn University, graduating in 1964. Tom married his high school sweetheart, Janyath Camp Ventress, in 1965. Later he became head football coach at Cass High School in Georgia. After moving back to Birmingham, Alabama, Tom started a 46 yearlong career as a State Farm Insurance Agent, retiring in December of 2019.

Tom is survived by his wife Janyath Ventress, son Thomas Aaron Ventress IV, daughter Traci (Jay) Atkins, grandsons Trey and Brady Atkins, and sister Ann (Richard) Cobb, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Tom was a loving husband and father. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had many friends and was known for his “big heart” and concern for others. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Aaron Ventress, Jr. and Ruby Rowland Ventress and daughter-in -law Erin Ventress.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 21st, 2022, at Heflin Baptist Church. Visitation is from 1:00 to 2:00 followed by the service at 2:00pm. Brent Thompson will be officiating.
