Obituary for Simeon Jackson Allen

Simeon Jackson Allen
May 30, 1935 – December 19, 2021

On Sunday evening, December 19, the Lord said, “Well done, my good and faithful servant". As He welcomed Simeon Jackson Allen into His kingdom, Simeon opened his eyes and looked full into the face of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Simeon was born May 30, 1935, to O.V. and Vassie Allen, in Cleburne County. He grew up in Ranburne and Heflin. He attended Cleburne County High School and graduated from Ranburne High School in 1954. He attended Jacksonville State University. Simeon married Myrtle Lee Parris on June 12, 1954. He spent 33 years as Director of Central Stores and Distribution at Regional Medical Center, Anniston.
In addition to his parents, Simeon was preceded in death by his precious wife of 63 years, Myrtle Allen, a brother, Clifton “Tip” Allen, eight sisters, Myrtle Freeman, Velma Blanks , Delma Kilgore, Vera Richardson, Avel Spears, Eula Kaylor, Bobbie Baughn, Syvle Ledbetter and several nieces and nephews.
Simeon leaves behind a blessed legacy of Christian faith for his family, which includes his two daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn Crawford (Brian) of Montgomery, Donna Thompson (Sean) of Yulee, Florida, two granddaughters, Tori and Brie Thompson, a sister-in-law, Brenda Sue Parris of Decatur, a brother-in-law, Robert Parris of Heflin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Simeon was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. He gave all the glory to God for the good things in his life. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the family that he cherished so much. Later in life, as many know, Simeon began writing poetry inspired by his love for God and his Savior Jesus Christ. He shared his poems as a form of ministry so that others might be touched by God’s love and come to know Him.
The family is filled with gratitude for his wonderful caregivers, Carol Hopkins, Carrie Hugghins and Lori Ahls, who became like family to him. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Regional Medical Center for their recent care.

Please join us in celebration of a life well lived. The graveside service will be held at 12pm, Thursday, December 23, at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Heflin, Alabama. Rev. Ronny Williams will officiate.

Pallbearers will include Mack Ledbetter (nephew), David Ledbetter (great nephew), Matthew Ledbetter (great-great nephew), Brian Crawford (son-in-law), and Sean Thompson (son-in-law).
