Heflin - Virgil Royce Chandler, 80, died Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Heflin City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Son - Jason Chandler
Brother - Troyce Chandler
Sister - Ernestine(Billy Hugh) Lambert
Numerous nephews, cousins, and one niece
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Royce was born December 08, 1940 to the late Corene Scott Chandler and Ernest Chandler. In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, G.C. "Swifty" Ward, sister-in-law, Barbara Chandler, wife, Judy Price Chandler, and daughter, Rori Chandler Bailey.
After graduating high school in 1959, Royce served his country in the U. S. Army before returning to Alabama to raise his family. Royce was a devoted father, husband, brother, and son. He was strong willed and always made it clear who the boss was. Royce always encouraged his children to be the best they could be, and the needs of his family always came before his. Royce loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He loved any kind of sport. In Later years, Royce watched anything sports related on TV. Throughout all the obstacles life dealt him, Royce always had a smile and love to crack jokes.
The family wishes to thank the staff of NHC Healthcare and Regional Medical Center for all their great care over the past several years, but especially in the last four months.
