Obituary

Cantrell
Heflin - Ray Cantrell, 65, died Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church #2 with the Dr. Steve Dempsey and Rev. Wallace Higgins, officiating. Burial will follow in Pilgrims Rest #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 28, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. The body will lie in state one hour prior to service. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Wife - Jeanette Bearden Cantrell
Daughter - Shannon Phillips
Daughter - Jennifer Gudie
Daughter - Rose Baggett
Step-Daughter - Tammy Soria
Son - Jeff Cantrell
Son - Tommy Cantrell
Step-Son - Dale Russell
Sister - Darlene Cantrell
Brother - Tony Buchanan
Grandchildren - 13
Great Grandchildren - 15
Pallbearers will be: Dustin Buchanan, Nathan McCoy, Pedro Delacruz, Paul Ragan, B.J. Glasgow, and Buddy Baggett.
Ray enjoyed working with his hands, doing mechanic work, building motors for race cars and go-carts. He loved every aspect of dirt track racing. During race season, you would find him every Saturday night at the Hollis Dirt Track. Ray also loved working with and caring for animals, in particular horses and donkeys. Ray was content and enjoyed the simple things of life. Ray was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Bryttanie Russell and brother, Melvin Cantrell.
