I have memories during my youth of the Perryman Family. My parents, Hubert & Foy Crane, rented land along Chulafinnee Creek from the Perryman's. The land was called "the bottoms" back during those days. The crops planted, which I remember, were fields of corn and turnip greens. When we got in from school, we would change into our work clothes, and mother would drive us to the "bottoms". My job, along with a sister and brother, was to ride on the bed of a truck and the older siblings would gather the crops and throw upon the truck bed for us to stack, etc. The turnip greens had the turnips attached to them and we would tie them in bunches. The soil was rich and grew beautiful produce. The produce was taken to town (Anniston) and sold. My family thought a lot of the Perryman family. I knew they moved to Texas, and as I have reflected over the years on families from my past, I've thought of the Perrymans. I am now 76 years young, so these memories are old ones. BTW, I grew up in Chulafinnee Baptist Church (the old white one).
