Heflin - Marvell Norton Smith Higgins, 89, died Thursday, November 28, 2019 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. James Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Heflin City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Higgins was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was employed by Crowntuft Manufacturing in Heflin. She loved to go to Heflin Senior Center and Wise Chapel senior celebration.
Mrs. Marvell was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Ella Norton; husbands, Alonzo Smith and Joseph Higgins; and 8 siblings.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Hospice Compassus in Roanoke, Alabama and a special thanks to her niece, Debbie Waldrop and her 3 neighboring sitters.
