Heflin Malene Edwards Roberts, age 93, died Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at her home in Trickum Valley. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Delong, Rev. Jason Cole and Rev. Chris Jackson officiating.Burial will follow in Cleburne Memorial Garden. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 27, 2022, from 5:00 until 7:00PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Kathleen Roberts (Bob) Elliott, Anniston, AL
Grandchildren - Lana Elliott, Amaya Elliott, Lily Reid, Addison Reid, Leo Minningham, Ellie Minningham& Georgia Minningham.
She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and their families and she is surrogate ‘Mom’ to many.
Malene was predeceased by her husband, Paul Roberts, her mother Idella Hale Edwards, her father William Edwards, her sister Alline Champion, her brothers Earnest Hugh Edwards, William Duston Edwards, John Clinton Edwards, Paul Andrew Edwards and James Lee Edwards.
Malene met her husband Paul October of 1946, on a blind date and they were married December 11, 1948, sharing nearly 55 years of marriage. She was an active member of Mountain View Baptist Church since 1948 where she served as the Church Treasurer for many years. Malene had a servant’s heart and always put others first. Her church, family and friends felt the love she selfishly gave. She co-owned and clerked Roberts Grocery Store for 25 years with her husband. She will be remembered for her ‘sugar cookies’ which she shared with children young and old. Malene enjoyed working in her flower beds, gardening and cooking but her greatest passion was her love for the Lord, her family, her church and her friends.
Pallbearers will be John Edwards, Jr, Charles Edwards, James Cook, Norman Wise, Davy Lott and Scott Merrill. Honorary pallbearers will be Nephews and great Nephews.
