Obituary for James Edward Skinner

Huntsville - James Edward Skinner, 86, died Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Regency Retirement Village of Huntsville.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Heflin City Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Laura(David) Buddenbaum
Son - Allen(Gail) Skinner
Brother - Reid(Fern) Skinner
Grandchildren - Andrew, Katlyn, Wesley Reynolds and Ryan Skinner
Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
James was born and raised in Cleburne County. He was a member of Highlands Baptist Church. James served his Country in the United States Navy. James hobbies were Bee Keeping, camping, fishing, gardening, reading, sacred harp and bluegrass music. He was know as an handyman-fix everthing person. James loved his vacation home on Smith Lakes where he loved to entertain family and friends and to teach water skiing and swimming. He moved to Huntsville in 1963 to start a 30 year career with NASA as an aerospace engineer helping to send men to the moon. James married Mary Katherine Kent. James was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Katherine Skinner, parents, Milton and Flora Skinner, and brother, David Skinner.
