Weaver - Dorothy Colunio Michaels, 60, of Weaver, AL passed away on the morning of May 19, 2021.
She was born to parents Jim & Rose Jane Colunio on May 20, 1960 in Elmira, NY. She graduated from Southside High School (Elmira, NY) in 1978 and was a service member of The United States Army from 1978 to 1984.
Dorothy is survived by her brother Lawrence ‘Doc’ Colunio; sisters Annie Sortore& Kathy Norgren; Sons Jimmy Michaels (Lana), Brian Michaels (Hendoly). She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Noah Lindsey, Madison Bean, Tyler Freeman, Ava Michaels, Tucker Michaels, Brylee Michaels & Ysabel Michaels.
She is proceeded in death by her father Jim Colunio, mother Rose Jane Colunio& brother Anthony ‘Tony’ Colunio.
Dorothy was a resident of Weaver, AL for more than 36 years and worked for Honeywell Aerospace in Anniston, AL for more than 26 years. She was an avid runner in her younger years and an enthusiastic sports fan most notably of the Auburn Tigers, Penn State Nittany Lions, Buffalo Bills and the New York Yankees.Dorothy was a fighter; she survived Lukemia twice, first in 2001 and again in 2015. Dorothy was immensely proud of her family, she loved hers sons fiercely and adored her grandchildren. Astrong, hard working woman, who was a friend to many, Dorothy leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 3rd at 6 p.m. at Sarah Ann’s Bakery in Heflin, AL.
