Fruithurst - Donald Leon Parker, 74, died Monday, May 27, 2019 at His Residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Fayetteville United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Wife - Terry Vanzant Parker, Fruithurst, AL
Daughter - Kim Parker, Fruithurst, AL
Son - Scotty(Gretchen) Parker, Douglasville, GA
Son - Michael(Kellie) Parker, Heflin, AL
Grandchildren - Lauren Parker, Austin Parker, Katie Parker, Amber Parker, Chelsea Parker, Joseph Parker, & Peyton Parker
Sister - Dale(Doug) Duffee
Sister - Donna(David) Walls
Several Nieces & Nephews
Pallbearers will be: Austin Parker, Joseph Parker, Peyton Parker, Joseph Walls, Ben Walls, and Brian Duffee.
Donald Leon Parker was born to Luther and Katie Louise Parker on 11-26-1944 in Sylacauga, AL. Donald was a student and athlete at Sylacauga High School, graduating in 1964. He was drafted and served in the U.S. Marine Corps until 1970, earning a National Defense Service Medal. Donald then began working in the printing business as an offset photographer for 41 years. He enjoyed coaching little league football and baseball for many years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Donald was preceded in death by his father, Luther Parker, mother, Katie Louise Parker, and brother, Dean Parker.
