In the early evening of May 13th our Maw-Maw Carolyn left this earthy home and moved to her Heavenly home. Jesus whom she placed her faith in as a child and dedicated her life to as a servant became sight as she stepped into His presence and was eternally healed.

In 1953 she and Billy Joe meet and started dating. They fell in love and married after a short courtship of just three months. They started a life together in Buncombe GA. She worked as a seamstress in Bremen, GA. In 1956 they purchased a farm in Cleburne county and Carolyn found her forever home. She started sewing for the public and meet many of a friend along the way. On the farm she was known for baling the hay alongside of Bill. In the fall of 1954 they welcomed their first daughter Angela. In 1962 they welcomed their second daughter Teresa. Carolyn was always known to have her girls dressed in her finest creations. During 1962 she became a pastors wife and her calling was found. She was a loving, strong, pastors wife that showed support that never wavered. She served as a pastors wife for 50 plus years at many churches in Calhoun and Cleburne County.

Then in 1976 Carolyn and Bill purchased Lamberts Store in Lebanon, AL and started Murray’s General Merchandise. There at the crossroads Carolyn made that store another home for her family. She was known for cooking, quilting, and sewing all from the store. She even talked Bill into adding her a fabric and sewing department to the store. She never meet a stranger and made many of great friendships while in business at the store. During her time working and running the store she helped raise her grandchildren. She loved each of them like none other! Her hands where soft and loving but stern in correction when needed. She cheered each of them on through their lives and was their biggest fan.

She was known for making quilts, fishing, playing basketball, crocheting, mowing the lawn, and waving goodbye to you till you could no longer see her from the porch. Her name from all was Maw-Maw Carolyn and she lived up to it by loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her reason for living. In 2002 she and Bill retired out of the store. She then filled her time with either the grandchildren’s activities, church activities, or her latest sewing or crochet project. She built her life around being a servant of God and loving her babies! She was a Godly example to each of us every day. No mater time of day or how she was feeling she showed the love of Christ.

Once she was blessed with great-grandchildren she dedicated her time to them. When they would come to visit nothing else mattered. She would even tell you to stay gone a little longer and let these babies stay with me. They meant the world to her. She was always working on a crochet project to give to the grandchildren or great grandchildren and they would beam with excitement at each gift.

We are thankful that this is not goodbye Maw-Maw just a see you later on the other side. We love you! You will be missed however we are comforted by the fact that you are with Jesus now and we will be there with you one day. If Maw-Maw Carolyn could leave you with one last advice it would be to trust your life to Jesus! He is the only way! Live daily for Him!

Carolyn was preceded in death by her adoring parents W.C and Annie League, her brother Lynn and sisters Myrtice, Jane and Opal.
