Heflin - Betty Rooks Hayes, 90, died Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Cleburne County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, October 25, 2020, at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Jackson and Rev. Chad Morgan, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 25, 2020 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Daughter - Pam Hayes
Grand Daughter - Crimson Jeffers
Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins
Chosen Daughter - Sandra Kent
Chosen Son - Gary Cheatwood
Sister-in-law - Jane Ellen Norton Hayes
Pallbearers will be: Gary Cheatwood, Keith Pruitt, Ricky Prichard, Jason Austin, Shag Austin, Chad Austin, Tony Jeffers, and Rudy Rooks. Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of Cleburne County Nursing Home and Cheatwood Texaco.
Betty was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County and graduated from Heflin High School in 1948. Betty owned and operated Hayes Grocery and Quick Stop for many years before moving to Cheatwood Texaco until her retirement. She was a member of Happy Hill Baptist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert Hayes, parents, William Forney and Ruthie Brown Rooks, siblings, Gladys Rowland, Corrilla Kent, Lucille Blanton, Edwin Rooks, Frank Rooks, Jay Rooks, David Rooks, and Rudolph Rooks.
