Heflin - Zelma Irene Thompson, 94, died Thursday, September 7, 2017 at her daughter's residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Dryden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Wautelet officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Cane Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Dryden Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include:
Daughters - Linda (Kenneth) Estes, Ranburne, AL, Brenda (Franklin) Bowen, Roopville, GA and Cornelia (Tim) Wautelet, Tallapoosa, GA; Son - Evin (Connie) Thompson, Jacksonville, AL; Sisters, Ruth Abney, Fruithurst, AL, Adline (Edward) Hulsey, Fruithurst, AL and Ruby Skinner, Fruithurst, AL. Nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Adam Walker, James Barker, Ethan Skinner, Joseph Newborn, Andrew Berry, and Mason Berry.
Mrs. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County. She was a member of Upper Cane Creek Congregational Methodist Church. Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Neal Thompson; her parents, Noah & Annie Connell; her daughter, Shirley Barker; her brothers, Roy Connell & Rufus Connell; her sisters, Pauline Jennings, Joyce Elna Cockrell, Fredda Owen, Nellie Burch & Mary Fleming; & 4 grandchildren, Shannon Walker, Jonathan Newborn, Jason Newborn & Joy Newborn.
