Obituary for Norma Jean Yates

Heflin -Funeral service for Norma Jean Brown Yates, 82, will be held Monday, May 2nd at 11:00 am at the
Edwardsville Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Garner and Rev. Jeff Layton officiating with burial to follow
at Lower Cane Creek Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May1st from 5-7 at the Edwardsville Baptist
Church. Mrs. Yates passed peacefully on April 29th, 2016, at her home in Heflin. Mrs. Yates is survived by her
husband of 62 years L.V. Yates of Heflin, two daughters Karen Payne (Lynn) and Glenda Nolen (Jeff) both of
Heflin, five grandchildren Patrice Kurzejeski (Tim), Chesley Payne (Tiffany), Brad Payne (Hollie), Craig Nolen
(Emily) and Blake Nolen (Erica), 11 great grandchildren and brother James Scooter Brown of Robbinsville, NC.
Mrs. Yates was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ruby Brown, brothers Russell Brown, Arvid
Brown, Gerald Brown and sister Nancy Skinner. Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Yates was a native and lifelong resident of Cleburne County and a member of Edwardsville Baptist
Church of Edwardsville. She was a faithful wife, loving mother, grandmother and lived her life loving the Lord
and taking care of others and her family will miss her famous chocolate cake. The Family would like to thank
her caregivers Pat Munroe, Pat Beason and Michelle Payne, nurse Michael McElroy and other kind members
of ALACARE Hospice for their care of Mrs. Yates and support of the Yates family.

In lieu of flowers the family request donation to be made to Edwardsville Baptist Church or Jamiysn Dream
at 4062 Burton St Heflin AL, 36264.
