Obituary for Obie Norman Williamson

Williamson - Heflin
Mr. Obie Norman Williamson, age 76, of Heflin, Alabama, passed away at his home on Friday, December 19, 2014.

Mr. Williamson retired from the Army National Guard after many years of service. He began his career at Moore Business Forms and later co-owned K&W Heating and Air Conditioning. He also worked for L.E. Bell, Becktel and contracted for many area residents for in-home building and repairs. As a hobby, he enjoyed drafting plans for site-built homes and other projects. He happily ended his professional career with 10 years of service as The Santa Claus at the Eastdale Montgomery Mall and other area appearances.

Mr. Williamson was a devout Christian and member of the East Heflin Baptist Church for over 30 years preceded by membership at New Harmony Baptist Church.

Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by his father, Willie Bee (Bill) Williamson; his mother, Bertha Mae Dennis Williamson; one brother, Odis Dennis Williamson; and two sisters, Irene Cook and Linda Williamson.

Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife of 54 years, Annie Carol Campbell Williamson; three children, Sherrie Williamson (Xavier) Garcia from Heflin, Amanda LeAnn Williamson of Smyrna, Georgia, and Jonah Lee (Brandy) Howell of Heflin. He is survived by three sisters; Jeanette Crow of Heflin and Edna Burrow and Jette Watford of Helena, Alabama. Survivors also include 5 grandchildren; Carmen, Gabrielle, Alana, Aiden and Jolee, and 1 great-grandchild, Kara.

Funeral services for Mr. Williamson will be today at 1 p.m., December 23, 2014, at East Heflin Baptist Church with the Minister Chad Dollahite and Reverend George Robinson officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bill Bosch, Garrett and Robbie Campbell, Michael Cheatwood, Wayne Cook and Xavier Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are Harold Barker, Terry Brown, Dwight Byrd, Jerimy Bryant, James Campbell, Ted Campbell, Allen Cheatwood, Bruce DeLong, Jr., Charles Dollahite, Ray Estes, Allen Williamson and Bruce Wright.

Internment will be at New Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.

Special thanks is extended to East Heflin Baptist Church, and if desired, contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the church in his name.

Mr. Williamson will be deeply missed by family, friends, business associates and children of all ages.
