Obituary
M. M. Buster Miles, Jr. peacefully entered into his eternal resting place on December 7, 2014 with his four children by his side. To celebrate his life of 90 years, a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Dryden’s Funeral home, in Heflin, Al. Visitation will be held from 9am until 12 pm with a funeral service immediately following the visitation at the funeral home.
Buster is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Bennett Miles, brother Frank Miles, son Matt Miles [Pam], daughter Ellen Martin [Paul], son Marc Miles [Linda], and daughter Hope Downey [Michael] as well as thirteen beautiful grandchildren. Buster was born in Boaz, Al. on February 7, 1924, to the late Mimeger Mathis Miles and Mattie Dolly Fowler Miles. Buster lived most of his youth in Glenco, Al until being drafted into the US Army in 1942. Buster served in the US Army and fought in WWII until his honorable discharge in 1946. After his return to the states, Buster and his brother, John Miles, opened Buster Miles Used Cars in Anniston, AL. In 1952, Buster opened Buster Miles Chevrolet & Oldsmobile in Heflin, AL. The family business has grown and thrived over the years to include Buster Miles Ford. Buster’s positive attitude, his loyalty, honesty, and service to the community were just a few of the attributes that made his business successful. He had a love of all area sports including Auburn football. He founded the AU Car dealer program in 1960, was a member of the Heflin Baptist Church, The Lions Club, Boy Scouts of America, Alabama Automobile Dealers Association, Calhoun Chamber of Commerce and served on numerous boards. Buster will be remembered for his gregarious and outgoing personality, his generosity, and his love of family and country
